What’s your go-to song when you feel lonely? Does hearing or playing that song reinforce sad feelings, or does it actually inspire something beautiful out of isolation? This episode is about one particular song that I think epitomizes so many different aspects of being alone.
The Adagio assai from Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major is one of the most beautifully poignant pieces of music ever written. I wanted to adapt it for solo piano so that I could have it with me whenever I felt the need to express a lonely sentiment or explore the beauty of isolation.
